Scott Edward Sinsabaugh, Killeen Criminal Attorney

Scott Edward Sinsabaugh is a criminal defense attorney in the Killeen office of Dunham & Jones and a former Bell County prosecutor. He handles most kinds of criminal cases, misdemeanors and felonies, and appears most often in Bell County. His trial record includes more than 15 jury trials as first chair and more than 15 as second chair, and he has handled thousands of cases. Mr. Sinsabaugh also speaks Spanish.

Mr. Sinsabaugh earned a B.B.A. in finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001 and his Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law in 2005, the year Texas licensed him. He opened his own criminal defense practice, the Law Offices of Scott Sinsabaugh in Temple, and ran it for 14 years.

From 2019 to 2022 he prosecuted criminal cases at the Bell County Attorney's Office, where he was the office's designated prosecutor for the Veterans Treatment Court. Veterans' issues are common in the area, and he knows the program's procedures and resources.

He puts his approach plainly: "At the outset, the goal is to get the case dismissed no matter what. If that's not possible, then we work backwards from that point."

Mr. Sinsabaugh does this work because he believes the criminal justice system has serious flaws and falls short of what it should be. Even if it is a drop in the bucket, he wants to be one part of that system working to see that everyone is treated fairly and their rights protected.

Originally from the Dallas area, Mr. Sinsabaugh lives in Georgetown. He belongs to the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Outside of work he cooks, plays golf, and spends time with his wife and their son Enzo.
