Joseph Minton, Harker Heights Criminal Attorney

Joseph A. Minton is a criminal defense attorney in the Harker Heights office of Dunham & Jones and a former prosecutor in Travis and Tarrant Counties. He takes on everything that comes through the door, from misdemeanors to serious felonies, and appears most often in Bell County. He has handled hundreds of cases.

Mr. Minton is from New York. His bachelor’s degree in legal studies, with honors, comes from Ithaca College in 2013. Texas came next, at the University of Texas School of Law, where he concentrated on criminal law and trial advocacy, trained under defense attorney Dick DeGuerin, and competed in more than 25 mock trial competitions around the country.

He began his career as a prosecutor with the Travis County Attorney’s Office in 2019 and moved to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in 2020 as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney. He tried cases to juries, negotiated with defense attorneys, and saw firsthand how prosecutors evaluate and build a case. That view of the other side shapes how he defends one now.
